About us

Bream Early Learners (BEL) is an independent not for profit registered charity, which has been serving families in the local community for nearly 60 years. We are an Ofsted ‘good’ rated preschool with our last inspection in April 2018 finding that our children ‘make good or better progress’ and that our staff team ‘create a very welcoming environment for children and their parents’.

Our history

Bream Early Learners was formed in 1965 and and was initially run from the function room of the local pub. The group then moved to the West Dean Centre as a ‘pack away’ setting.

In June  1997 we became a registered charity. Four years later we moved to our current site close to Bream  Primary School, operating out of one of the school’s old classrooms.

We celebrated our 50th birthday in May 2015 by holding a family fun day at the sports club.

In September 2020, after many years of fundraising, we opened the doors to a brand new two roomed building. Acorn class for the younger children and Oak class for the preschool children.
